"Seconds From Disaster" was a 2015 co-operative release between gaggle of cocks and IndiePulse Music Magazine / IndiePulse Records (formerly Xombiewoof Magazine) with the intention of raising charitable funds for Children's Disease Research and Treatment (believe it or not!), courtesy of Joseph Timmons.
Originally recorded around 2009, "Blind Roger" and "SMOKE" were part of the sessions that eventually became the "Low Class Trendsetter" record. These two tunes were recorded with a slightly different lineup, however, and the decision was subsequently made to leave them off of the "LCT" release, paving the way, eventually, for this two-track EP (Incidentally, there was talk at one point of utilizing these two songs as part of a split with Jersey siudge/doom rockers Clamfight, but that endeavor never materialized). The IndiePulse announcement originally read:
gaggle of cocks is proud to announce the 2015 release of the two-song digital EP, "Seconds From Disaster," on IndiePulse Records. Recorded at the now-defunct Riverfront Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and produced by Stacy O'Dell & Pat Harrington, "Seconds From Disaster" represents a defining and pivotal moment in the history of gaggle of cocks.
In addition to original members Pat Harrington (guitar/vocals) and Freddy Villano (bass),"Seconds From Disaster" features contributions from drummer Roger Benton (ex-Joker Five Speed) and guitarist Chris Goercke (The X's, Queen V). Defined by incendiary guitar riffs, inciting lyrics and a pummeling rhythm section, this four-piece incarnation of gaggle of cocks delivers the songs "Blind Roger" and "SMOKE" with the same in-your-face attitude the band is notorious for.
Aaron the Audiophile from
50thirdand3rd.com had this to say upon its release:
"All of the gruff, heavy guitars, no-nonsense vocal performance, and the thunderous rhythm section that made previous releases complete, are here in all their gritty glory, delivering the kind of you music that begs to played at a volume that grants you a visit from the authorities compliments of your prudish neighbors."
